Big Brothers Big Sisters Event

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting 6 matches (Bigs and Littles) at our facility for a day of exercise and learning about nutrition.

As part of BBBs “Match Madness” which mirrors the college basketball March Madness, we decided to put the matches through a NBA Draft Combine simulation to show them how college basketball players are tested before they get drafted to a professional team.

The draft simulation consisted of 4 exercises that test explosive power, speed, and agility that is crucial to have on the basketball court. Those tests included the vertical jump, shuttle run, sprint, and the lane agility drill.

After the matches got their results from the combine simulation we ran them through a sample NBA basketball workout designed to help improve their scores in the draft combine events.

We included movements like wall-balls, pushups, lateral lunges, and battle ropes to increase their lower body power, agility, and conditioning.

We concluded the event with a quick talk on creating healthy eating habits designed to optimize performance on and off the court.

We always have a great time giving back to the community and this was one of our favorite events. If you are interested in being part of this organization, please visit their website here.
