Be a Pro Coach at ProFormance

Follow this outline to learn how to be the most successful trainer possible here at ProFormance.

Know your “Why”

Before you start coaching and transforming people’s lives for the better, it’s important to start with knowing why you are in this position. Why did you decide to become a personal trainer? Why did you choose to help people pursue healthier lifestyles? Why do you want to make this a career and not just a side hobby?

  • When you are truly connected to your “why” your brand will be clearly defined. Clients and teammates will see that you are meant to be here. You will be fully aligned with your purpose in life. When the going gets tough, your “why” will drive you to push past the challenges that this career presents.

  • Ever been around someone who is so in tune with their purpose in life and it shows? These types of people have a certain energy about them that is infectious and makes others want to be around them. When coaches are in tune with their “why” business will come naturally and clients will flow to them with ease leading to more revenue and income.

  • Every major company has a mission and vision statement that guide them in every decision that needs to be made for the advancement of the business. With a mission and vision that are properly aligned with your “why” you can make decisions more effectively that lead you in a proper path of growth and impact on those you serve.

  • Your “why” should be deep and not surface level. For example, if a client were to come in and say they want to lose weight, you might ask them why? They respond, “to get down to what I weighed in college.”

You then say, “Why is that important to you?”

Client: “Because then I can get off my blood pressure medication.”

You: “Why is that important to you?”

Client: “Because that means my heart will be healthier.”

You: “Why does that matter to you?”

Client: “Because then I can have a few more healthy years in my life.”

You: “And why is that important?”

Client: “When I have grandkids I’ll be able to spend more time with them.”

You: “Why do you care about that?”

Client: “Because family means a lot to me and I want to be there for them when they need me.”

Boom! There it is! The real reason why. See how much time that took? It started off a surface level answer and ended up with a much deeper meaning behind the weight loss. This deeper meaning is the real reason why they want to lose weight and will motivate them to continue their journey to their goal even when things get tough.

Be Professional

Speech

Speak with proper manners and without explicit language. Welcome your clients with a smile and a hello and walk them to the door as they finish up their session. Politics and religion are generally topics to avoid. Always make the client feel like they are the star of the show. If they are speaking more than you, it is a good sign that they are comfortable with you and will continue coming in to see you. Speak with positivity and avoid complaining in front of your clients.

Presence

Be the person that uplifts the room when you walk in. This involves positive body language, walking with confidence, smiling, dressing appropriately, practicing proper hygiene, being interactive with clients, helping out around the facility, and genuinely caring about others. The more positive your presence, the more people will want to be around you. This will lead to more referrals and more business for you.

Timeliness

Always show up on time. On time in this business means arriving to the facility no later than 10 minutes before your session is supposed to begin. This allows you to walk around the gym and prepare for the session, say hi to teammates and clients, clean the facility as needed, and make any programming adjustments due to spaces in the gym being unavailable.

Facility Upkeep

Work in the gym as if it were your own home. Clean up when something is out of place, prepare clean towels when needed, sweep when needed, tidy up, take out the trash, replace essential oils, and anything else that may need presentation improvements.

2 Things to say constantly...

Say Hi and say Yes

Saying these two things everyday will lead you to rapid success as a trainer

Say “Hi” to everyone you see in the facility. Greet clients and trainers alike. This develops relationships, rapport, and trust for your business. This will create raving fans.

Say “Yes” to every opportunity that comes your way; say “yes” to learning. Say “yes” to training new clients, working on new skills, continuing education, and helping others out.

Work ON your business; not just IN your Business

We offer 30-minute sessions, 45-minute sessions, and 60-minute sessions. Most often, clients can benefit from 30-minute session due to it being less expensive for them, it’s less taxing on their bodies, it gives them enough time to create an effective stimulus for fitness growth, and it allows you to make more money at the end of the day.

Your commission depends on your total monthly sales. You receive 50% commission if you sell $5,000 each month and you receive 60% commission if you sell $7,500 each month. You can get to the higher commission amount if you train more 30 minute sessions throughout the day.
