Mike Jett, MS, CSCS, EP-C, PN
Health and Wellness Advisor, Nutrition Coach
Mike is a faculty member at the University of Louisville in the Health and Human Performance program. He also serves as the Human Performance Lab Director and Co-Program Director. Mike began teaching at U of L in 2004, and became a full time instructor in 2012. His current teaching focus is Lab-based Fitness Testing Methods and Fitness Prescription, as well as a continuing focus on Exercise Physiology. Research interests include muscle hypertrophy, efficiency of exercise, and chronic disease prevention/reversal. In his early 40’s, Mike has a growing appreciation for the effects of lifestyle, particularly exercise, on the ageing human body.
Mike’s additional professional experience includes 14 years of personal, small group, and large group training; 4 years as an assistant cross country coach (2 state championships); and publications in professional journals such as Sports Medicine and the ACSM’s Health and Fitness Journal. Since 2017, Mike has offered nutrition coaching using the Precision Nutrition ProCoach program.
Mike is a native of Louisville, attended Eastern High School, and earned both his BA (History) and MS (Exercise Physiology- 2004) from the University of Louisville. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS- NSCA), Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C- ACSM), and a Level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach.
Mike and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children- Maggie (2013) and Daisy (2015), and one dog- Ace. Mike’s favorite hobbies include, in no certain order- hiking, exercise physiology, UK basketball, Phish, and Star Wars.
